One of the most important lessons I've learned in my life thus far is this: Confidence is not about you, it's about the God who lives in you.

I had the opportunity to share a bit about my leadership journey and how I came to this understanding on the Living Room with Joanna Weaver podcast. (@joannaweaverbooks)

We talked about how to discern where and how God wants you to lead, why we need to be faithful to do what God has in front of you right now, and what the real root of confidence is.

This past weekend, I was in Florida helping my mot

This past weekend, I was in Florida helping my mother-in-law bring her dad and stepmom back to Maine.

As we were getting things ready to fly back home, I stumbled across a binder labeled "Bible Study".

As it fell open, I saw notes and notes... handwritten notes on multiple books of the Bible. Notes typed on a typewritter of various Biblical topics. Stapled packets of resources about spiritual gifts and other aspects of our Christian faith.

I couldn't help but think about the spiritual legacy that we've been gifted with... both my husband and I.

The hours spent in Bible study and in prayer by our grandparents is a blessing to our lives today. The impact of this faithfulness goes beyond what any of us will ever fully understand. But I'm grateful to have caught a glimpse of it.

It’s a reminder to me that true leadership is often the leadership that goes on behind closed doors... in your own home and in your own heart.

Lately it seems that there is content and information coming at Christian leaders from every direction. And all of the information, content, and input leads may lead us to feeling pressured or even paralyzed about what to do next.

In episode 106 of the Christian Woman Leadership Podcast, I’m sharing some thoughts about how I’ve been feeling lately, along with some of the themes I’ve been hearing from many of you.

In our conversation about church leadership and leadership transitions, @theministrywifecoach said this: "Success requires a lot of humility, and a lot of giving up your own agenda." I could not agree more! The further I go into the realm of leadership, the more I learn it's not about what I want personally, but about doing what is best for the organization or the team.

And that means, many times, giving up my own personal preferences and agendas.

When leaders refuse to do this, and cling to their own desires--that's when things often come crumbling down.

When I first started out in the online space, and even for the first couple years, I was trying LOTS of different strategies and methods.

I jumped into a mastermind before I had some of the basics down. I also followed some amazing mentors but they didn’t have the same faith and values framework as me, which led me to feeling frustrated about some of the methods being taught.

What I really needed was guidance from someone who recognized that each person and business is different, as well as how foundational my faith was to my business and life.

That's why I'm so excited to announce my new 8-week group coaching program, the Shine Online Audience Accelerator.

In this program, my goal is to give you what I wish I had a couple years ago.

After over 5 years of working full time online with dozens of clients, as well as growing my podcast, email list, and audience consistently, I am confident that I can provide you with both strategy and hands-on support to do the same.

The program will also focus on how our faith is foundational to our business and life, as well as helping you set up your business around your life (rather than the other way around). We already have several women who have jumped in, and I could not be more excited to kick things off the week of July 6th.

It's easy to criticize other leaders about how the

It's easy to criticize other leaders about how they respond to crises.

But shaming, guilt trips, and criticism is not effective nor is it what God calls us to as Christians.

Instead, let's practice giving others (and ourselves) grace to navigate our responses. It's impossible to know what another person is going through at any given moment, so it's vital for us to focus on what we can do rather than tear others down.

18 years. We did it.

Some years I write a long heartfelt post and we go on a trip or do something super special.

Today he put up our deck furniture and put dirt in our raised beds (yes, I’m way behind on my garden). And I made a simple “fancy” dinner for our family.

Sometimes it’s the little things that matter most.
