Do you ever find yourself believing the myth that business has to feel like a struggle to be successful? Listen in for a peek at what it could be like to have a business that doesn’t feel hard all the time.

I’ve found from my own experience and in working with my clients that we often fall into the trap of believing business has to be hard and that we have to struggle to create or run a business.

But this just isn’t true. Our businesses don’t have to feel like a struggle, we don’t have to have everything feel hard all the time. What if this could be the year that you actually start to enjoy your business?

I’m not saying that there won’t be difficult parts of your business or hard seasons or that you won’t have to work hard. But what I am saying is that your business itself doesn’t have to feel heavy and draining all the time. It shouldn’t have to feel like a slog…and it doesn’t have to! There are steps you can take to ensure that you are happy to get out of bed and go to work in your business each day.

So here’s what you need to do if you want your business to feel easier in 2022:

You need to know how you want to feel at the end of 2022.

You might already have income goals or marketing strategies for the year. But I challenge you to take some time and reflect on how you want to feel at the end of the year.

For example: I started feeling like I wanted to have Fridays off this year in order to spend that time doing other things that are important to me. At first I was a little stuck around this idea…I felt a little bit like I “shouldn’t” take that time off, or I wasn’t allowed to somehow. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I created this business to support my ideal life, and so working toward that vision is exactly what I need to do!

At the end of the year, I want to feel like I have spaciousness in my schedule, and that I’ve spent time investing in things that are important to me in all aspects of my life.

Do you have a vision for how your business can help you live out your ideal life? Don’t be afraid to pursue that ideal life!

Make sure that you are operating a business that actually helps you build toward your ideal life, instead of one that may make you money but doesn’t lead to the life that you want to live.

“I want to feel peaceful and relaxed and I want to have more margin in my life.” -Esther Littlefield

You need to build a business that leverages what you are good at and what lights you up, in addition to what the market supports.

Your business can feel easy if you are leveraging your natural gifts, strengths and passions into something that the market needs.

I call this your ideal business. Your ideal business is found at the intersection of 3 things:

  • What you are good at
  • What you’re passionate about
  • What the market wants

What can happen is that we create something or we have an idea for something that combines 2 of these things but not all 3.

For example, maybe we’re passionate about it and we’re good at it, but it’s not what the market will pay for, so it’s not really a business.

Or we create something that the market will pay for and that we are passionate about but don’t have the skills, training or natural ability so clients aren’t signing up or we’re not getting repeat clients and referrals.

Or we create something that we are really good at that the market wants, but it’s not what lights us up and brings us joy. That can lead to burning out because we’re working hard, we’re making money, but we’re unfulfilled.

But when you create something that combines all 3 of these aspects, your business will feel much easier and more enjoyable!

You need to create your ideal business in a way that sets you up to reach your income goals.

Many times I see incredible women with amazing talents and skills, but they are not hitting their income goals for one big reason: they haven’t structured their business in a way that will help them hit those goals.

So this is what I want for you in 2022: I want you to pursue creating your ideal business AND for that ideal business to earn you an income and that helps you live your ideal life.
